After a long while...

It's been dunno how many days since the last time i posted an entry here. (Not that anyone bothered.. =S) So many things happened since then! I dunno where to start from! But there are 2 particular items i definitely wanna mention here in this post:

1) WEDDINGS!!!!

2) His Birthday


LOL. I have been attending weddings lately. A sign that i'm growing old? Hmm..but nevertheless, i totally enjoyed every bit of it. The first wedding in late June was that of my colleague.. I was really looking forward to this wedding cos it was gonna be the first time i attend a hindu wedding! I was really excited and when the day came, all i could say is, FABULOUS! Jassie looked SO gorgeous in the silk golden wedding costume! She looked exactly like a famous actress who just walked out of a bollywood movie! Im actually not kidding. Here are some pics of the bride and groom and.. the pretty ceiling.

OK at this point, i must stress the whole ceremony. Me, Fion, Edwina, Alvin and Meiyen attended a Sanghit that night. Its like a party.. different from the normal chinese wedding dinners we always have. There were mats on the floor for the 'jie mei's to sing some songs before the actual ceremony started. Something like an Indian "dikir barat" for those of u who noe wats tht. Then the bride comes in first, sitting on the makeshift swing! So cute! Indian custom is similar to Malay custom in a way that the guy marries into the gal family. So there Jassie was, looking pretty while waiting for her husband. I must enphasize that she did not haf any jewellery one at that moment. Then the groom enters.. clap hands.. blah blah. The impt part is this. They then go onto the stage together & sit on the sofa. The ceremony begins. The guy family will take turns to adorn the gal with various jewellery from the forehead, to the wrists, fingers, ears and lastly to the neck. After that, Jassie looked spectacular and extremely glaring! She was brimming with diamonds! Talk abt all the bling bling..my eyes were literally bling-ing away. HAHA. Then the aunts & uncles will go up on stage to haf a bite of the sweet wedding cake. This symbolises a sweet marriage. Awww... After which, the bride and groom proceed to take pics while the guests head for the buffet dinner. Yummy CHINESE food. Chinese. I absolutely understood at that moment that Jassie really LOVED chinese food. That's abt all that she eats. =) Then after dinner, we gather to watch performances prepared by the couple's close frens and families. It was really a meaningful and heartwarming wedding.

Isnt the ceiling pretty? I took it first shot! Looks so artistic. Am i good or what!??!?!!? Wahaha..

Next, i need to move on quickly to the birthday. Take deep breaths. I need lotsa saliva and breaths to go through this.



I brought him to Fosters at Holland V. We were early so we took a long walk from the station. Although i was perspiring, i was so glad we made it cos we didnt lose our way! heehee..Then we ordered our food and i presented the present. Well, not exactly present.. more like ask him to guess what it was. He guessed it right at the 2nd try. So i took it out and asked him to spot something special. OK.. one spotted, two spotted.. 3.... (after much hinting).. spotted. At this point, i must pause to give a recap on what happened.


First spot: The photos in the digital Olympus camera.

The night before, i was worrying abt wat to do on the next day. How can i present it in a way tht is nice... ? Initially Brenda and I thot of all the wild ideas like taking a stupid video of myself doing stupid things.. or singing happy birthday.. u noe, tht kinda thing. But too late la.. sigh. So i decided to take photos and put them in frames and with special words "Thank You"; "Happy Birthday"; "Love". Those were the most suitable standard words in the cam. I took the first photo. Then all of a sudden, i wanted to pack my bag for the next day and prepare wat to wear. You noe gals. I searched and searched and searched high n low for my wallet but cldnt find it. I even went outside on the roads to look for it (at 1am mind you). I was in my PJs and specs.. looking really ah soh when i walked past a suspicious looking man outside. He was scary cos he turned back to look at me when i walked past. Either he must be harbouring some unclean thots, or he must be thinking im a mad woman who looked ridiculous in my mickey mouse PJs. HaH. Thankfully, nothing happened. Went back home with no wallet still. So i prayed very hard to God.. trying to make sense of it all and trusting in Him to provide. Perhaps it will appear the next morning. I slept with that hope. Woke up the next morning panicking cos i havent gotten down to doing the pics for him. I chanced upon my mum and asked her, even tho i wasnt confident or finding any wallet from her. BUT, Praise the Lord, she said " oh ya! i hid it from the maid in case she stole any $$. " I was SOOOOOO happy.. no words could describe. She apologised, expecting me to be angry, but i wasnt angry at all. Just very thankful and i knew it was a beautiful miracle frm God. =) So then i was happy enuf to continue with the other 2 shots. i did all the editing in the car on my way to office. Haha.. so proud of myself.


Second spot: Handphone chain

This was pretty obvious. I wanted to get a tatty chain.. but didnt manage to find any suitable.. then on sunday I went to orchard with Brenda (which ill explain later) and she had a bright idea! She suggested going to TANGS to get the personalised accessory.. so i chose 2 jigsaw pieces with a cross in the middle, symbolising our union is a perfect fit, with Christ as the centre of our lives. Yippee!


Third spot: The hardest one. Most subtle looking one. An engraved pattern of C&K wrapped in a heart with arrow.

This is the most tiring part of the present. I searched for metal engravers online and could only find one suitable one in queensway shopping centre. So Brenda and I went down one day.. in a cab cos we were so scared it closed. When we reached, alot of things happened.. but the final conclusion was: no engraving was done but we gained 2 dresses and 3 tops! LOL. The worst part of this was that i took the longest time to get home. 197 really went in circles.. and i had to be one of the few, living in the east, standing on the bus on heels. Actually i think i was the only one. arghh. totally sapped all my energy. my legs were strained and hands were worn out from grabbing to the pole for my dear life! I later called ring engraving shops.. which were not certain they could do it for me.. So i banished the idea and tried searching by shopping centres online. A small voice told me to search Far East Plaza.. and since it was a pretty hip place, i decided to try and true enough, there was a 'Plaza Engraver' there. I called the shop up and Yay! the indian man said he does camera engravings. So happily, Brenda and I went on Sunday to Far East Plaza to do the engraving. It turned out allright.. mine was too light and hers was too big. We were happy and sad with the outcome. She thot mine was nice in a subtle way, and i thot hers was so nicely carved. Haha. Really shows how dissatisfied pple can get. =)


Lastly, the Olympus Miu 760 digital cam. At first, Brenda and I went to chinatown to look as she said they were quite reliable and cheap. When we reached there, they all were promoting their Casio Exilim, 10 MP.. blah blah blah. Both of us almost fell into their trap. When we returned home to ask other frens and family, NO ONE recommended tht brand. My brother even commented that the shopkeepers jus wanted to sell off the unsellable casio with the promo. So we turned to other brands. The next day during lunch, we travelled to Peninsular plaza with Von and went to Cathay photo, one of the better shops recommended. Then i decided to settle with the brand i bought. But we thot to think properly for another day before making the buy. So we cabbed back to office. Long lunch. Oops. The next day, we again went over.. and went to both funan and peninsular to check out the prices for both canon and olympus. In the end, i bought mine from Cathay and Brenda bought hers from Alan at Funan. ($450 & $600 respectively) CABBED back to office AGAIN. LONG lunch AGAIN. DOUBLE OOPS.

Jus wanna thank Brenda all this while, who has came alongside me, giving me ideas and accompanying me everywhere to do everything. Now both of us haf similar looking cams! LOL.

So that was the whole journey of how i got his present. took lotsa effort but i know he took alot more effort combined to do up a mini Xmas tree for me during Xmas 2 yrs ago, to write a story book on a handmade book with paper origamis of hippos and tigers and mice for my 21st bday, and to prepare the wonderful night on the cable car.
